Many church leaders say that most marriages in their congregations “seem like they’re doing pretty well,” but upon closer examination ultimately realize their couples have significant struggles. Few have truly great Godly marriages. Church leaders also say that traditional marriage ministry models of short-term conferences or studies are often characterized by a “start and stop” approach (even if unintentionally so). Many churches try to pick and choose a good conference, a good Bible study, a good small group curriculum, a good counseling referral system, or other programs. These approaches are beneficial catalysts to help build a good marriage, but do not translate into the ongoing integrated discipleship couples truly need. The Great Marriage Experience provides churches with everything they need to strengthen marriages from sermon series notes to assessing the needs through the RMAP, to implementing small group studies.
